Shape from Shadings under Perspective Projection and Turntable Motion

چکیده
Two-Frame-Theory is a recently proposed method for 3D shape recovery. It estimates shape by solving a first order quasi-linear partial differential equation through the method of characteristics. One major drawback of this method is that it assumes an orthographic camera which limits its application. This paper re-examines the basic idea of the Two-Frame-Theory under the assumption of a perspective camera, and derives a first order quasi-linear partial differential equation for shape recovery under turntable motion. Dynamic programming is used here to provide the Dirichlet boundary condition. The proposed method is tested against synthetic and real data. Experimental results show that perspective projection can be used in the framework of Two-FrameTheory, and competitive results can be achieved.

Structure and motion of nonrigid object under perspective projection
The paper focuses on the problem of structure and motion of nonrigid object from image sequence under perspective projection. Many previous methods on this problem utilize the extension technique of SVD factorization based on rank constraint to the tracking matrix, where the 3D shape of nonrigid object is expressed as a weighted combination of a set of shape bases. All these solutions are based...
متن کاملIdentification of Riccati dynamics under perspective and orthographic observations
In this paper, the problem of identifying motion and shape parameters of a planar object undergoing a Riccati motion, from the associated optical flow generated on the image plane of a single CCD camera, has been studied. The optical flow is generated by projecting feature points on the object onto the image plane via perspective and orthographic projections. Riccati dynamics is to be viewed as...
متن کاملNew dynamic zoom calibration technique for a stereo-vision based multi-view 3D modeling system
A new technique is proposed for calibrating a 3D modeling system with variable zoom based on multi-view stereo image analysis. The 3D modeling system uses a stereo camera with variable zoom setting and a turntable for rotating an object. Given an object whose complete 3D model (mesh and texture-map) needs to be generated, the object is placed on the turntable and stereo images of the object are...

We show how to automatically acquire a Euclidean shape representations of objects from noisy image sequences under weak perspective. The proposed method is linear and incremental, requiring no more than pseudo-inverse. A nonlinear but numerically sound preprocessing stage is added to improve the accuracy of the results even further. Experiments show that attention to noise and computational tec...
